Sickness
If your child is feeling unwell or displaying any of the symptoms listed below we ask that they remain away from the centre and return 24 hours after the final symptom.

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhoea
  • A high temperature
  • An unidentified rash
  • Conjunctivitis (unless medical treatment has been applied for at least 24 hours)
  • Any other symptom of a contagious illness.

Medication
Medication is not given to a child unless prior written authority has been given by the parent/whanau.  If your child is on medication and you wish this to be administered during your child’s time at the centre, please discuss with the Centre Manager and complete the appropriate paper work.  If you are unsure about whether your child can attend please talk with the Centre Manager.

Pamol is available at the centre in an emergency and can be administered if verbal approval is given to two staff and the appropriate paperwork is completed when your child is collected.  The parent must still pick up the child.

Accidents
Our centre provides a safe, nurturing and enriching learning environment for children, but sometimes accidents do happen.  All teaching team members hold a current first aid certificate and will administer basic first aid as appropriate.  Any accident that occurs is recorded and requires your signature when shared with you at the end of the day.

Should the accident be serious, parents will be contacted immediately, however if this is not possible, we will seek appropriate medical advice or support.  It is therefore essential you provide us with your contact phone numbers, as well as the name of another family member or friend who may be contacted if you are unavailable.
