Overview

KiNZ East Tamaki is a vibrant new early learning centre that opened in June 2007. We are a purpose built centre, which caters for 50 children.  This is a mixture of 40 over two children, and 10 under two children.  Our qualified and registered teachers provide high quality care and education for children three months to six years of age.

We are in a prime location for dropping off and picking up children, being right next door to the Manukau Institute of Technology, and handy to the new Highbrook and Otara motorway on/off ramps. In addition to this, we are only a short distance from the East Tamaki commercial/Industrial district.

We are offering 20 hours free early childhood education for three and four year olds. Families enrolling at this centre may also apply to Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) for childcare subsidies.

Our Philosophy
At KiNZ East Tamaki we aspire to assist all children to develop a sense of themselves as competent learners, within a positive learning environment, now and for the rest of their lives.

  • We will provide children with the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the cultural heritages of both partners of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • We believe that young children learn best through play experiences. Teachers provide a variety of experiences that challenge and stimulate further learning opportunities.
  • The principles and strands of Te Whariki (the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum) are the foundation of our programme.
  • Children are encouraged to make choices, to experiment, explore and have fun in well-resourced curriculum areas.
  • We value children’s individual strengths, interests and uniqueness.
  • We believe in the importance of planning and reviewing our teaching practice to extend and enhance every child’s developing competencies.
  • We believe that ongoing professional development and support is essential for teachers to demonstrate growth in their teaching practice.
  • Teacher’s practice is reflective of current theories of learning and development to achieve the best learning outcomes for children.
  • We believe in the importance of creating an attractive and child-oriented environment and our staff act as positive role models in achieving this.
  • We promote respectful, open and honest relationships between children, parents/whanau, and staff.
  • We believe New Zealand has a unique bi-cultural heritage and we    endeavour to reflect this in our environment and programme.
  • We acknowledge the right of every child to learn about their own culture and offer all children the opportunity to learn about other cultures.
