Overview

KiNZ Sandringham is conveniently located in the centre of Sandringham behind Edendale Primary School giving easy access to the central city and main motorways.

KiNZ Sandringham opened in February 2007 and provides high quality childcare for children aged two to six years in an attractive purpose built centre that is well resourced.  Children are educated and cared for by qualified professional teachers.

As we are in the grounds of Edendale Primary School we have a close working relationship with the school. Transition to school visits are part of the programme for four year olds to ensure a smooth transition from KiNZ to school for our children and families.

We provide morning tea, afternoon tea and a hot lunch all planned by a nutritionist and prepared by our experienced onsite cook.

On the 22 October 2007 we began offering 20 free hours early childhood education for three and four year olds. Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) subsidies may apply for some families.

We welcome families into the centre and you can come and observe or work alongside the teachers with your child at any time.

Our Philosophy
At KiNZ Sandringham we aspire to assist all children to develop a sense of themselves as competent learners, within a positive learning environment, now and for the rest of their lives.

  • We will give children the opportunity to develop knowledge and an understanding of the cultural heritages of both partners of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • We believe that young children learn best through play experiences. Teachers provide a variety of experiences that challenge and stimulate further learning opportunities.
  • The principles and strands of Te Whaariki (the New Zealand early childhood curriculum) are the foundation of our programme.
  • Children are encouraged to make choices to experiment, explore and have fun in well-resourced curriculum areas.
  • We value children’s individual strengths, interests and uniqueness.
  • We believe in the importance of planning and reviewing our teaching practice to extend and enhance every child’s capabilities.
  • We believe that ongoing professional development and support is essential for teachers to demonstrate growth.
  • We believe in the importance of creating an attractive and child-oriented environment and our staff act as positive role models in achieving this.
  • We promote respectful, open and honest relationships between children, parents/whanau, and staff.
  • We believe New Zealand has a unique multicultural heritage and we endeavour to reflect this in our environment and programme.

You are welcome to visit our centre on Fridays between 9-11am and 1.30-3.00pm.  Please phone or email us to make an appointment.
